Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) provides on-campus accommodation to students who need it. Here is all the information an applicant will need when applying for MUT accommodation:

  • Eligibility requirements: To apply for MUT accommodation, applicants must first be accepted into a program at the university. They must also be registered as full-time students and have paid their tuition fees.
  • Application process: Once applicants are eligible to apply for accommodation, they can do so by completing the online accommodation application form. The application form requires applicants to provide personal information such as their name, student number, and contact details. They will also need to specify the type of accommodation they are interested in, such as a single or shared room, and provide any relevant information about their preferences.
  • Allocation process: After submitting their application, applicants will be placed on a waiting list. Accommodation is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, and priority is given to students who are from outside the Durban area or who have special needs. The allocation process may take several weeks, so applicants should apply as early as possible.
  • Payment: Once an applicant is offered accommodation, they will need to pay a deposit to secure their room. The deposit is refundable at the end of the academic year, provided the applicant has met all the terms and conditions of their accommodation agreement. Monthly rent is paid via the university’s online payment portal.
  • Accommodation options: MUT offers a range of accommodation options to suit different needs and budgets. These include single rooms, shared rooms, and apartments with a kitchenette and bathroom. All accommodation is furnished and includes basic amenities such as a bed, desk, and wardrobe.
  • Accommodation rules and regulations: Applicants should familiarize themselves with the rules and regulations governing accommodation at MUT. These may include restrictions on visitors, noise levels, and cooking facilities. It’s important to comply with these rules to ensure a safe and comfortable living environment for all residents.
